Mission Spotlight: Innovation Day 2, Thanks-Give, Arcadia Service Day
It is the mission of Arcadia Charter School to prepare our students to transition intellectually, emotionally, and ethically to higher education, future employment, and engaged citizenship.
What a big week of engaged citizenship we had!
Innovation Day 2 was a wonderful success! Arcadia students in action! Here are some images of them helping restock the food shelf (check out how beautiful Northfield's Super Shelf food shelf is!), working on theater and other projects with students at Prairie Creek Community School, and organizing books for the Community Action Center: https://www.facebook.com/ArcadiaCharterSchool/videos/2541003486007181/. Students also helped out at A Great Day Farm, knitted at Northfield Yarn, and helped out at Montessori Children’s House. In the afternoon, after the morning service project, they heard more about community engagement from Arcadia parent and Food Program Coordinator at the Food Shelf, Dawn Wegscheid. Following her presentation, students experienced a series of small group activities and discussions around the significance of community engagement facilitated by Arcadia's amazing staff. Thank you to the staff who planned the day and the students for their excellent participation!
Thanks-Give was another rousing success! A huge thank you goes to Bob Gregory-Bjorkland and the student planning team! The Arcadia Dancers, Monty Python Players, Chase Ingraham, guest artist Kirill Nazarov, ParaDancers and, of course, the Purple, Red, Green, and Blue advisories did a wonderful job with their dancing, music, and skits! It was a wonderfully entertaining night! Our madcap, fun, and zany fundraiser raised nearly $4000 to support Arcadia’s academic programming. THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the show to support Arcadia and our students!
Thank you also to the Fjeld Zillmer, Hunter, and Grosse families who came Saturday morning to help us get technology and a white board installed in the new classroom (name forthcoming!), technology in the Conference Room, blinds up in the Room of Requirement, reorganize and clean up the stage area, remove an old, falling-down flat, and complete other post-Thanks-Give tidying. That was VERY helpful!!!
What a wonderful week of living our mission!
