Day 2

Picture Day is taking place on the morning of Friday, October 4th.  Please bring your Lifetouch forms home and have a guardian or parent either complete the orders online or fill out the form and bring it back to school on picture day.
If you are a HS student in 11-12th grade interested in taking Human Anatomy next quarter please let Tami know sometime this week.  Supplies need to be ordered.

Attention all high school students and 8th graders! You may have seen the posters around the building and it’s true: we are offering a trip to Washington DC and New York City this May Term 2020! The information session for this trip is on Thursday 9/26 at 6:30pm. If you’re interested in learning more about the trip (including the itinerary, cost, and more) please plan on coming! There are interest sheets in Blue and Red advisory as well, so please sign up if you think you can come. Email or talk to Matt for more information.

Today’s Chill Week theme day is… “Work-Out” Wednesday! Today’s focus is active living and healthy lifestyles, whether that means getting outside for a walk, participating in your regularly scheduled sports activity, or doing some stretches and yoga at your desk. When we stay active, we release endorphins which help us feel better and happier. Regular exercise even helps us reduce stress and related stress symptoms! 1. Try out some of the “deskercise” exercises found via the link provided: https://www.healthline.com/health/deskercise – these can be done as students sit at their desks. 2. CTC has a series of mindful movement flows  https://www.changetochill.org/how-can-i/mindful-movement/ created for specific reasons (ex. decrease anxiety, energizing). These exercises take just a couple of minutes to do and can be done while sitting at a desk. 3. During “Work Out” Wednesday, try some of the mindful movements specifically designed for athletes https://www.changetochill.org/athletes/. These may be a fun way to mix-up the traditional sports practice and work in some movements that focus on breathing and stretching parts of the body that help athletic performance overall. Finally, don’t forget to #ChillWeek if you post your workout on social media!

It’s not too late to sign up for ILEO.  See Gary if you are interested.  ILEO meets Mondays right after school until 4:15.  Students will need to be picked up or have a way home each week.  The first ILEO session will be today after school in the ROR.
Do you want to learn more about the government?  Do you want to make new friends and have great times with your current friends?  Then come learn about Youth and Government – a program by the YMCA.  Students take over the state capitol for 4 days and create their own state government.  You can learn more by going to the meeting today,  Wednesday, Sept. 18, 7:00 pm at the Northfield High School in room H124.  If you have questions, you can talk to Logan in Red advisory or email NorthfieldYouthandGovernment@gmail.com.  Brochures can be found at Kim’s desk.
