Mission Spotlight

It is the mission of Arcadia Charter School to prepare our students to transition intellectually, emotionally, and ethically to higher education, future employment, and engaged citizenship.

Arcadia Charter School envisions a supportive learning community that, through collaboration and student-driven, project-based learning, encourages and assists students to:

  • Express themselves creatively through the visual, literary, and performing arts.

  • Use technology with innovation, imagination, and responsibility.

  • Develop critical thinking and creative problem solving skills.

  • Construct knowledge and meaning for themselves.

  • Value, advocate, and strive for the wellness of the whole person.

  • Be empowered to act as local citizens within a rapidly changing global community.

Most Arcadians have continued to be active, engaged learners during this challenging transition to, and then sustained period of, online learning. I am so proud of all of our students, and endlessly grateful for the staff and families who are a part of this community! We continue to live our mission every day--it’s a really solid mission!

Also in keeping with that mission, May Term starts tomorrow! I am looking forward to seeing what students choose to do!

Here are a few other mission-related happenings:

Dance Performance

The Arcadia Dancers have created a final performance to share with the community! The videos include senior solos and group pieces. A huge thank you to Shari and the Arcadia dancers for putting all of these together! What a wonderful way to honor the work that you have all done. Thank you for sharing that work with us!

Middle School Awards

If you’re new to Arcadia, you may hear “awards” and think of a typical academic award ceremony. That’s not what this is. Every student in the middle school receives an award recognizing their unique personality and contributions to Arcadia’s middle school. Often, the awards are based on inside jokes shared among the MS community, but the advisors have also created an introduction for each student that reflects how intentionally advisors work to get to know every student. We had a number of requests to view the MS awards and I wanted to make sure those families who were interested had a chance to view them. We have a new live streaming channel available here: https://video.ibm.com/channel/grJ73PfWNwr

The 8th grade class also chose to donate a tree! There is a video of the tree being planted in their honor.

The MS awards videos and the 8th grade tree planting video will be available on our channel until 9pm on Monday evening (tonight, 5/25).

Mural Tiles

We are still looking for a number of mural tiles to be returned! Drop them in the mail, or drop them off when you come to pick up your locker/desk materials! We can’t wait to see how it turns out when all of our pieces come together! :)
