Hello, Arcadia families,

Here is what’s happening at Arcadia this week!

Monday, 5/24: Day 1

Tuesday, 5/25: Day 2

--Check grades today! Make sure you’re turning in any missing work!

Wednesday, 5/26: Day 3

Thursday, 5/27: Day 4

Friday, 5/28: Day 5--Last day of 4th Quarter!

Model Update and Upcoming Schedule

Rice County COVID case rate numbers continue to decline, down to 23.26/10,000 in a two-week period! Vaccination rates in Rice County are increasing, now at 62.7% partially vaccinated, and 56.6% fully vaccinated.

Masking (staying masked in the building) and distancing requirements remain in place for students and adults at Arcadia, regardless of vaccination status.

Again, vaccination is now available to most Arcadia students (ages 12+)! Appointments are widely available at Hyvee in Faribault: https://www.hy-vee.com/my-pharmacy/covid-vaccine; Northfield Hospital and Clinics has vaccine appointments available for 12+: https://www.northfieldhospital.org/covid-19-vaccine; others have had luck at Northfield Urgent Care, and most clinics now have appointments available.

You can also check on Vaccine Spotter: https://www.vaccinespotter.org/MN/

Or use the State Vaccine Connector: https://mn.gov/covid19/vaccine/connector/connector.jsp

May 28: Last day of Fourth Quarter

June 1: First day of “May” Term

June 10: Last Day of School and Graduation! (Graduation will be held in the backyard at Arcadia the evening of June 10 for graduates and their families.)

General Announcements

May Term Donations Welcome!

This year, instead of charging students for individual May Terms, we are asking families who are able to make a donation toward the cost of all May Term activities. Our suggested donation is $25/student. The goal is to ensure that all May Term activities are accessible to all students!

You can send in a check, or pay online here: https://arcadiacharterschool.org/online-payments

Returning Materials and Technology

As we start wrapping up the school year, we would like families to bring all school-owned materials--Chromebooks, textbooks, Ozobots, headsets, etc.--back to the building to be inventoried and repaired (as needed). If your child is participating in an in-person May Term, these materials can be dropped off any time after Friday, May 28th. If your child still needs them during May Term, then please return them by the afternoon of June 10th. All materials must be returned by June 10th. Thank you!

On behalf of the Community Action Center:

The CAC Food Shelf is in need of volunteers this week. Please contact Dawn (wegscheid.dawn@communityactioncenter.org) with any questions you may have. You are able to sign up independently here, or respond to Dawn and she will get you on the schedule.

From Davin (8th grade) for his MS community service project:

Hello, Arcadia Community!

As part of the middle school's 4th quarter project around community service, I am collecting items to put in care kits for people experiencing homelessness. We will deliver the finished kits to the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

For the next few weeks, I'll be collecting donations of the following items (in new condition) for the care kits:

  • Socks

  • Toothbrushes/paste

  • Reusable water bottles

  • Lotion

  • Bandages

  • Wet wipes

  • Sunscreen

  • Small packaged foods like tuna, nuts, stuff like that

There will be a bin in the school entry where you can leave donations for this community service project. I appreciate your help!

Attendance Form

Please report attendance-related information (appointments, illness) through our website, even during distance learning! Go to “Current Families” and then “ Report an Absence.” You can fill out as much as is relevant. If your child is ill, please make sure to report symptoms, as we are required to track a lot of information on illness this year! If you’d rather just save a link to the form somewhere accessible to you, here is a link to the form.
