For all you gamers out there, get ready to play a new one designed by seven 11th graders and one 10th grader, all students at Arcadia Charter School. As a final project, the "Great Eight" started working on the video game in late March.

Today in the ArtZany Radio studio Paula Granquist welcomes Bob Gregory-Bjorklund, arts coordinator at Arcadia Charter School and students from the production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, abridged. This is a show that includes all of Shakespeare’s plays in a 97-minute performance.

Six years and 24 residencies later, Koza returned to Northfield at Arcadia, 1719 Cannon Road, to debut his album “Sleepwalkers part 1” in a Friday night concert with nearly half of the 124 middle and high school student body involved in the collaborative project.

For the past several weeks, Arcadia Charter School has hosted Twin Cities musician Chris Koza as part of their arts residency program. 90 middle school and high school students volunteered to create a collaborative, multimedia performance piece with Koza.

On Monday, Sept. 27, all three middle school grades at Arcadia Charter School piled into a school bus to go on their first physical field trip since the pandemic began. The eighth graders spent the day in the Nerstarnd-Big Woods State Park.

Typically Greenheart Exchange, a nonprofit which established an exchange student program in 1985, has 800 -1,000 exchange students per year. Despite COVID-19, a small group of exchange students have decided to continue their studies abroad amid the obstacles.

Oran D. Frenstad of Arcadia Charter School received the National Merit University of Minnesota Scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

Arcadia Charter School has been innovating the ways in which it comes together as a community and collaborates during this time of physical distancing. Arcadia students continue to start their day together, online, in their advisories — which are like multigrade home rooms.

In the ArtZany Radio studio Paula Granquist welcomes singer/songwriter Rachel Ries from Her Crooked Heart and Bob Gregory-Bjorklund. She is currently doing an Arts Residency at Arcadia Charter School in Northfield.

For long-time educator Laura Stelter, group discussion, projects and meeting the individual needs of students are her top goals in education. Stelter, a board member of Arcadia Charter School since 2011, now hopes to incorporate her philosophy as executive director.

Arcadia Charter School's graduation ceremony celebrated both the class of 2019 as a whole and each student as an individual. The graduation class, teachers and family members gathered for the sendoff for Arcadia’s seventeen seniors at the Armory Square Event Center Friday night.

“It’s so amazing to see everyone” exclaimed Melissa Niles, one of many Arcadia (formerly ARTech) alumni to attend the school’s 15-year anniversary celebration June 8. Her words were echoed by dozens of former and current students and teachers, along with friends and families.

At approximately 9:30 pm on Wednesday, May 1, Isabella Callery (Anishinaabe)—one of only nine students to make it to make the final round of competition from a field of more than 275,000 high schoolers—heard her name announced as the 2019 Poetry Out Loud National Champion.

If you listen to KYMN Radio, you have likely heard Logan Wells promote one of the many organizations he supports. The scope ranges from the Boy Scouts of America, VFW, Mayor’s Youth Council, and Arcadia Charter School, to the YMCA Youth in Government program.
