Maria Musachio is a special education teacher at Arcadia, working specifically with 6-8th grade students who qualify for services. She enjoys the project based curriculum and loves her role as a support person for both students and staff.
Maria started her career as a teacher in 1990 in the twin cities. She received elementary education training at the U of M, Mpls. and transferred to the U of M, Mankato to complete her degree. Her year long student teaching experience in an open school introduced her to the child-centered model of education that she continues to embrace. Maria is licensed in 4 areas of special education: SLD, EBD, ASD, and Transitions Coordinator. She thoroughly enjoys the individualized approach embodied by special education.
In her spare time Maria volunteers at the Faribault state prison conducting weekend workshops on non-violence. She is a Big Sister through the BBBS organization of Rice County. She enjoys swimming, camping, canoeing, and gardening during the summer months, and spends a week every summer at the True Friends summer camp as an Autism specialist. She also enjoys cooking and spending time with her family, especially holidays!
